HOW IT ALL BEGAN....
The Beginning of Pioneers of Progress, Inc.
In 2011, on the South Side of Chicago, a group of caring adults, educators, artists, real estate professionals, and community advocates came together, united by frustration with the violence and lack of guidance facing youth. Tired of watching potential go unfulfilled, they decided to be the change they longed to see. What began as a grassroots mentoring and advocacy effort quickly grew into a safe space where young people could find hope, direction, and purpose.
As the founders worked closely with families, one truth became clear: financial literacy and economic empowerment were missing links in breaking cycles of poverty. From this realization, Pioneers of Progress, Inc. evolved into a mission-driven organization dedicated to teaching youth and adults the principles of financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and wealth building.
In 2022, P.O.P. expanded to Charlotte, North Carolina, carrying forward more than a decade of impact and passion. Today, the organization remains rooted in its original purpose, empowering communities through knowledge, opportunity, and generational wealth because true progress begins when we equip people not just to survive, but to thrive.
